Local Roots. Professional Service
Big Meadow Auction Services Ltd. is an Alberta-owned and operated auction company providing professional live, online, and onsite auction services throughout the province.
From farm and acreage dispersals to estates, industrial and commercial assets, municipal surplus, consignment sales, and fundraising events, we believe the auction method remains one of the most effective ways to bring buyers and sellers together in an open and competitive marketplace.
Our approach combines traditional auctioneering with modern technology, targeted marketing, and straightforward personal service.
Auctioneering is our Bidness.
Our Story
Big Meadow Auction Services was founded in 2023 by auctioneer Tristen "T.J." Walker, but T.J.'s connection to the auction industry began long before the company.
Growing up in Northern Alberta with an agricultural background, trips to cattle markets and auction sales with his father and grandfather introduced T.J. to the auction business at an early age. That interest eventually led him to the Auctioneering College of Canada, where he graduated in 2013.
Over the following decade, T.J. worked with several auction companies throughout Alberta, gaining experience in agricultural, industrial, equipment, estate, consignment, and fundraising auctions.
In 2023, Big Meadow Auction Services was established with a simple goal: build an auction company that combines professional auction services with the personal relationships and straightforward service of a locally owned Alberta business.
What began as a new independent auction company has continued to grow through repeat customers, referrals, consignors, bidders, and relationships throughout the province.
More Than an Online Auction
Technology has changed the auction industry considerably, but we believe successful auctions still require more than simply putting photographs on the internet and waiting for bids.
Every auction begins with understanding what we're selling, who is most likely to buy it, and how we can reach those buyers.
Our team works with sellers throughout the entire auction process, including:
Built on Relationships
Auctions are ultimately a people business.
Behind every farm dispersal, estate, business liquidation, or consignment is a reason someone has decided it's time to sell. Sometimes it's retirement. Sometimes it's growth or restructuring. Sometimes it's settling an estate or simply making room for what's next.
We understand that we're being trusted with assets that may represent years — or even generations — of work.
That's a responsibility we take seriously.
We believe in straightforward communication, realistic expectations, professional presentation, transparent processes, and treating people fairly.
Our reputation is built one auction at a time.
Industry Leadership
Big Meadow Auction Services believes strongly in supporting and advancing the professional auction industry in Alberta.
T.J. has been actively involved with the Auctioneers' Association of Alberta, serving as a Director beginning in 2024, Vice President in 2025, and President beginning in 2026.
His involvement in the Association reflects our belief that professional standards, education, consumer protection, and a strong auction industry benefit auctioneers, sellers, and buyers alike.
Big Meadow Auction Services is also licensed and bonded in the Province of Alberta, providing our customers with the protections and accountability expected of a professional auction business.
An Alberta Company Serving Albertans
Our roots are here.
We understand Alberta agriculture, rural communities, small businesses, municipalities, and the people behind them because they're the communities in which we live and work.
At the same time, today's auction marketplace extends far beyond the nearest town. Through online bidding and digital marketing, an asset sitting on a farm or in a shop in Alberta can be exposed to interested buyers across the province and beyond.
That's where we believe Big Meadow offers something different:
Local knowledge backed by modern auction technology and professional marketing.
Giving Back
Community involvement has been part of Big Meadow Auction Services from the beginning.
Our team is proud to support community organizations, agricultural societies, 4-H programs, charities, fundraising events, and other organizations throughout Alberta.
Whether we're behind the microphone helping raise money for a local cause, volunteering our time, sponsoring an event, or supporting the next generation of the auction and agricultural industries, we believe locally owned businesses have a responsibility to contribute to the communities that support them.
Why Big Meadow?
When you choose an auction company, you're trusting someone with more than your equipment or property. You're trusting them with the responsibility of representing those assets to the marketplace.
At Big Meadow Auction Services, we work to earn that trust through:
Let's Talk About Your Auction
Whether you're considering selling an entire farm, settling an estate, disposing of surplus equipment, liquidating commercial assets, consigning a few items, or planning a fundraising auction, we'd be happy to have a conversation.
No pressure. No one-size-fits-all approach.
Just straightforward advice about whether the auction method is right for you and how Big Meadow Auction Services can help.
